Woman suffers fractured toes after footwear gets stuck in travelator at Malaysia mall

Escalator accidents are becoming more frequent in Malaysia these days. 

On Wednesday (Mar 8), a 38-year-old Malaysian woman fractured her toes after her foot was caught in a travelator at a shopping mall in Subang Jaya, Malaysia, reports World of Buzz

A spokesperson for the mall told reporters that the accident had occurred while the woman was distracted.

He further clarified:

“The shopper has received hospital treatment for a bone fracture.”

A statement posted by the mall’s Facebook page revealed that the incident happened at around 4pm, as the woman as riding the travelator between the lower ground floor and basement level.

A photo circulating on WhatsApp also showed the woman's left sandal lodged within the metal spokes on the travelator. 

The Fire and Rescue Department has confirmed the incident and that its team of rescue personnel and paramedics gave treatment to the injured victim.

The victim was then reportedly conveyed to Sunway Medical Centre for treatment,
