Could MBS accident where elderly valet was hit by taxi have been avoided with this anti-collision system?

Are we looking at the latest innovation that could prevent accidents and save lives? Toyota's new anti-collision system could perhaps even have stopped the taxi that rammed into the elderly valet at MBS on Saturday (Sep 24).

A video from AsiaOne shows a testing of Toyota's anti-collision system at the Fuji speedway in Japan. 

Emergency brakes are automatically applied in an imminent collision.

In the accident on Saturday, the 70-year-old valet was walking along the hotel at Bayfront Avenue's Tower 1 when a red Trans-Cab taxi collided into him at high speed and then crashed into a pillar. 

The elderly victim is currently in the hospital.
