Bomb scare in Ipoh turns out to be hoax

Stomper Raj was in Ipoh Town when he witnessed panic amidst a bomb scare at an RHB Bank branch.

Fortunately, the bomb scare was a hoax according to the Malaysian police, reports The Star.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong said someone had made a call to a bank staff, claiming that he had planted a bomb in the building.

He said:

“The man who called spoke in Malay, and he called the office number.

“Once the call ended, the staff immediately alerted the police and 15 minutes later, our officers were at the premise,” said ACP Sum.

A bomb squad, forensics team and a K9 unit comprising of over 30 officers checked the building and confirmed that there was no bomb on the premises.
