'Floating object' at Woodlands Waterfront turns out to be swimmer, who gets arrested for unlawful entry

A 39-year-old man was arrested for unlawful entry into Singapore on Nov 21 by the Police Coast Guard (PCG).

At about 10.50pm that day, the PCG detected a floating object believed to be a swimmer at the sea off Woodlands Waterfront heading towards Singapore waters.

Following the detection, the man was swiftly intercepted and arrested for unlawful entry into Singapore under the Immigration Act, Chapter 133.

Under the Immigration Act (Cap 133), the penalties for illegal entry are a jail term of up to six months plus a minimum of three strokes of the cane.
