Driver injured after RedMart lorry flips on its side in Holland Road accident

A lorry driver from online supermarket RedMart sustained minor injuries after getting into an accident at the junction of Holland Road and Belmont Road on Monday morning (May 14).

Photos circulating online show the red lorry overturned on its side, near a central road divider, with delivery boxes falling out of its rear.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident at 7.35am.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, was conscious when conveyed to the National University Hospital (NUH).

According to Lianhe Wanbao, the lorry is believed to have skidded due to the wet road after a downpour.

A witness told reporters: "There were quite a few vehicles on the road at that time. Several motorists saw the overturned lorry and fortunately, managed to swerve in time, or the consequences would have been dire."

The witness also said that he saw the lorry driver bleeding from his face and hands.

Police investigations are ongoing.
