Driver of SKK1498C flees after running over man at junction between Upper Serangoon Rd and Surin Rd: Police investigating

A video showing the driver of a black car running over a pedestrian, and fleeing after the accident, has been circulating on Facebook.

The video, shared by roads.sg, showed the black car running over the victim’s leg during the driver’s escape, while another driver pursues the car.

The incident was captured by a dashboard camera on the pursuer’s vehicle, and according to the contributor, happened on Surin Road towards Upper Serangoon Road today (May 24) at around 7.23am. 

The pursuer even drove in front of the culprit’s car to get him to stop, but the driver continued driving anyway. 

In an accompanying caption, the contributor of the video wrote:

“SKK1498C, you ran over a man and continued to drive over his leg. 

“I chased after you and you refused to stop even after I stopped my car in front of yours. 

“I've reported you to the police.

“Car was turning out from Surin Road onto Upper Serangoon Road where the accident happened May 24, 2017 at 7.23 am.

“Wishing a speedy and full recovery to the victim here.”

The police has issued an official statement on the incident:

"On May 24, 2017, the police were alerted to an accident involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction between Upper Serangoon Road and Surin Road.

"Police investigations are ongoing."
