Couple arrested in Geylang raid: Man had jumped from 3rd storey to evade CNB officers

A man leaped from a third-storey unit and landed on a car while attempting to evade arrest during a Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) raid at a condominium in Lorong 39 Geylang on Thursday afternoon (Sept 14).

The suspect sustained injuries and was conveyed to a hospital for treatment, while his female companion was arrested at the scene.

A witness told Shin Min Daily News that he had seen a man jumping from a unit on the third floor.

He said:

“The man looked like he was desperate.

“He jumped and landed on a car nearby, before rolling off and hitting the ground.

“The impact of the fall caused a dent on the roof and right rear door of the car.”

Reporters observed several plainclothes officers moving bags containing evidence out of the condominium unit.

Shin Min Daily News reporters contacted the 47-year-old landlady of the unit, who told them that the man and woman were a couple and the pair was involved in a drug-related case.

In response to media queries, a CNB spokesman said that they conducted a raid at Lorong 39 Geylang on Thursday afternoon.
