Couple arrested during CNB operation: Man threatened to harm himself, had offensive weapons

A 46-year-old man and his 37-year-old wife were arrested at Block 373 Jurong East Street 32 yesterday (April 10), during a Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) operation.

A Facebook user posted several videos of the incident, one of which show the man perched on the window ledge of a unit.

Officers from the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) can be spotted at the scene, which had also drawn several onlookers.

The original Facebook post has since been removed, but clips re-uploaded by other pages are still accessible online.

Another Facebook user also shared a picture of an inflatable safety life air pack that had been set up at the foot of the block:

In response to media queries, a CNB spokesman told Stomp that an operation to apprehend a 46-year-old male suspect wanted for drug-related offences was conducted at the block.

"Despite repeated requests, the suspect and his 37-year-old wife denied officers access into the unit. The suspect also threatened to harm himself," said the spokesman, adding that the police and SCDF were activated to assist in the incident.

The 46-year-old suspect has since been arrested. He is also being investigated for attempted suicide and possession of offensive weapons by the police.

The 37-year-old female was arrested for suspected drug-related offences.

Investigations by CNB are ongoing.
