Couple arrested after allegedly robbing man of phone and $400 cash, assaulting him in Geylang

A 22-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man, believed to be involved in case of robbery causing hurt, have been arrested.

The police received a report on Apr 25 at around 4.30pm, about how a couple had demanded for money from a man along Geylang Lorong 14 and assaulted him.

They absconded with the victim's mobile phone and more than $400 in cash. 

Following investigative probes, the Central Police Division apprehended the two suspects along Kranji Road.

The victim's mobile phone was recovered.

The suspects will be charged in court today (Apr 27) with robbery with hurt.

If convicted, they face a jail term of at least five to 20 years, and shall also be punished with at least 12 strokes of the cane.
