Chinese man suffering from nosebleeds surprised when doctor pulls live leech out of his nostril

A 51-year-old man from Yunnan, China was astonished when a doctor pulled a live wriggling leech from his right nostril.

Prior to the procedure, the man had reportedly been complaining of nose pain and had been suffering from nosebleeds for more than 10 days.

A video was taken of the leech extraction made by Dr Liu Xiongguang of Beihai People's Hospital in South China and uploaded on Chinese microblogging site Weibo by Changsha Legal and Legislation Channel, reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The video subsequently went viral.

In the video, Dr Liu uses forceps to open up the man's nostril before pulling out the leech with tweezers.

Once the wriggling bloodsucker came out, the patient was shocked.

Reports speculate that the leech had ended up in the man's nose after swimming in a river.
