Chinese couple exchange golden pythons in bizarre wedding ceremony

Some couples exchange jewellery on their wedding day and others exchange... snakes.

A bride and groom exchanged two giant golden pythons during their wedding ceremony in China, reports Shanghaiist.

When it came time for the couple to exchange gifts on stage, they draped the snakes around their partner's body before embracing in a hug.

The couple are actually volunteers at their local animal protection centre.

However, it is not known why they would choose pythons for their special day out of all the animals they have come into contact with.
