Cat found dead and covered in blood at Blk 261 Yishun, AVA investigating

A cat's carcass was discovered yesterday (Oct 24) at Block 261 Yishun Street 22.

A Stomper alerted Stomp to photos of the black and white cat on Facebook community page Yishun 326.

Its head and front of its torso were covered with blood.

The post was appealing to witnesses for information or evidence and to make reports to the police and Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA).

The AVA told The Straits Times that they are investigating the case.

The spokesman added that they would "appreciate it if the public refrains from speculation" while investigations are ongoing, as "not all animal deaths are related to cruelty".

The executive director of the Cat Welfare Society (CWS) told ST that the case is being looked at as a hit-and-run case:

"This was derived after checking with the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage around the area."
