Car crashes into e-scooter along Yishun Avenue 4, causes massive jam

A car and an electric scooter were involved in an accident along Yishun Avenue 4 yesterday (Dec 15)at 10.16pm, causing a jam for buses behind the two vehicles which lasted for about an hour.

Stomper Catherine was in the vicinity and alerted Stomp to the incident.

In photos sent by Catherine, the scooter was seen on the road, in front of a car, while a snaking trail of buses could be seen from the back.

Catherine said that she believed that the scooter rider was attempting to cross the road at a pedestrian crossing, and the oncoming car could not stop in time, ramming into him.

Said Catherine:

“The party at fault in the accident is unclear.”

In response to a Stomp query, a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said:

"The SCDF was alerted to the accident along Yishun Avenue 4 at 10.16pm.

"An ambulance was dispatched to the scene. 

"A victim was conscious when conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for treatment."

The police also issued an official statement, which read:

"On Dec 15 at 10.16pm, the police were alerted to an accident involving a car and an e-scooter along Yishun Avenue 4 towards Yishun Avenue 1.

"The e-scooter rider, a 29-year-old man, was conscious when conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

"Police investigations are ongoing."
