Angler caught on video throwing rocks at family of otters at Punggol Waterfront

An angler was caught on video throwing stones at a family of otters next to the Marina Country Club in Punggol Waterfront on Saturday (Feb 24).

Stompers Edwin and Jasmine alerted Stomp to a video of the incident that was posted on OtterWatch's Facebook page.

In the video, a man in red is seen picking up stones from the breakwater he is standing on to throw them at the otters.

According to another post by OtterWatch, the Punggol Marina family of otters consists of parents, a sub-adult and five pups.

They have been frequently spotted in the area and reportedly have been seeking refuge from stronger otter families in the Punggol area.

A spokesman for the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) told The Straits Times that it is investigating the incident. Members of the public who have information on the case or witnessed the incident can contact AVA at 1800-476-1600.
