Andy Lau will not need operation -- but is relying on painkillers for relief

Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau will not have to undergo surgery for fractures that he sustained during a filming mishap this week.

It was earlier reported that the 55-year-old had suffered injuries to his pelvis and back, after being thrown off a horse while shooting in Thailand.

According to AsiaOne, he currently depends on painkillers for relief and is expected to be discharged from a Hong Kong hospital after the observation period.

Despite recommendations that he be fitted with a cast, Lau is reportedly hoping to seek a bonesetter's help instead.
