A fire broke out at Block 167 Yishun Ring Road at about 12.50am this morning (Apr 20).

Stomper Lee alerted Stomp to the fire and said that residents had to be evacuated.

"Residents are still being evacuated from the eighth and ninth floors until now," said Lee, at about 10.45am.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp that it was alerted to the fire at about 12.50am.

The fire involved the contents of a bedroom and was extinguished by the SCDF using a water jet.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation, said the SCDF in a statement.

Nine residents were evacuated from the unit, as well as neighbouring units.

Lee sent a video to Stomp showing thick smoke emerging from the affected unit.

A person could also be seen wielding a flashlight while walking along the corridor.
