79 people arrested for gambling and employment-related offences in 2-day operation

The police have arrested 34 men and 35 women for gambling and employment-related offences in a two-day operation conducted from Aug 24 to 25.

The men and women were aged between 18 and 68 and arrested by officers from the Central Police Division who conducted checks at massage establishments and public entertainment outlets in Chinatown, Tanjong Pagar, Little India, Jalan Besar and Bendemeer, the police said in a release.

An internet casino at Kitchener Road was also raided where ten computers and $3,511 were seized.

Commander of Central Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC)  said:

"Police will continue to clamp down on sleaze and criminal activities. Those found engaging in illicit activities will be dealt with sternly in accordance to the law."
