10 arrested for online gambling, $685 cash and 13 computers seized

Six men and four women, aged between 39 and 66 years old, were arrested for online gambling along Sing Joo Road on Apr 30. 

The police said in a news release on May 2 that the suspects were arrested during an enforcement operation against online gambling conducted by the Central Police Division.

Cash amounting to $685 and 13 computers were seized.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Under the Common Gaming House Act, the owner or occupier of a common gaming house is liable to a fine of at least $5,000 and not exceeding $50,000, and imprisonment of up to three years. 

Any person caught gaming in a common gaming house shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or imprisonment of up to six months or both. 

The police will continue to take enforcement action against those who are involved in such illegal gambling activities and they will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
