55-year-old woman killed in Woodlands accident: Video shows how she was hit by car

New video footage showing how a 55-year-old female pedestrian was hit by a car in Woodlands on Dec 10 has emerged.

It was earlier reported that the woman was crossing the road at the junction of Woodlands Avenue 1 and 2, near Innova Junior College, at around 12.50pm when the accident happened.

The victim sustained serious head injuries and subsequently died in hospital.

A video posted by Lianhe Wanbao yesterday (Dec 12) shows how the woman had been pushing a pram across the road when the car, which was turning right, struck her.

According to Wanbao, the pram was empty at the time, as the woman's daughter was a few steps behind her, carrying her six-month-old son.

The deceased was identified as Mdm Ma Changhua from China, who was in Singapore on a social visit pass.

She had been on the way home from the supermarket with her daughter, who is a 29-year-old teacher known as Mrs Xie, and her grandson when the accident occurred.

Mrs Xie told Wanbao that they crossed the road when the lights turned green in their favour. They were crossing at the same pace, until Mrs Xie slowed down to check a text message from a friend.

The car driver is assisting in investigations, reported The Straits Times.
