2 taken to hospital, 100 residents evacuated after fire at Yishun Block 663

A fire broke out at Block 663 Yishun Avenue 4 at around 7am on Sunday (Jun 24).

In photos and videos shared by several Stompers, an apartment is seen burning up in flames while being engulfed in thick smoke.

A few Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel are also seen trying to douse the flames.

Stomper Cow Chicken said: "Smoke spewed out of two stretches of windows and the entire length of the corridor of the corner unit.

"The first SCDF fire engine arrived at around 7.09am, and two more fire engines arrived after that.

"I do not know if there were casualties, did not see any person being brought out of the flat."

Stomper Miki said: "I just happened to pass by while walking home and saw fire engines turning in to my area and went to check it out.

"The fire was put out at about 7.50am. There were about three fire engines at the scene.

"Blue flames were also seen in the room."

In photos shared by Stomper Lim, the building is seen charred in some areas due to the aftermath of the fire.

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said that it was alerted to the incident at around 7am.

"The fire was extinguished by SCDF using two water jets.

"Two Chinese males in their 20s were conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for smoke inhalation.

"The cause of the fire is still under investigation."

About 100 residents living in units up to the 12-storey block's top floor were also evacuated as a safety precaution, according to The Straits Times.
