19 people arrested for advertising sex services and drug-related offences

Police have arrested 19 individuals in connection with advertising sex services and drug-related offences in a week-long joint enforcement operation led by Ang Mo Kio Police Division and supported by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

The island-wide operation was conducted from 8 to 14 January 2018 in Sembawang, Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Serangoon, Hougang, Sengkang and Punggol estates. 

Six men and 13 women were arrested. A total of 36 residential and commercial units, and 130 persons were checked.

Amongst the arrests, 11 women were arrested under the provisions of the Women’s Charter.

The women were believed to be advertising sexual services online and operating within residential areas, according to investigations by the police.

Cash amounting to S$1,240 and 11 handphones were also seized.

Another six men and two women were arrested for suspected drug-related offences.

During the operation, a massage establishment was also found to be operating without a valid licence.

Investigations against the arrested persons and the operator of the illegal massage establishment are ongoing.
