New Star Wars movie title causes disturbances among fans online

After movie studio Disney announced on Monday (Jan 23) the title of the upcoming film in the Star Wars movie franchise, rumours have been rife among the online community.

For one, the title ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi” have caused many to speculate that Jedi knight Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) would be killed off in the upcoming movie, reports The Straits Times.

Secondly, the fonts have been rendered in red instead of the traditional bright yellow, leading fans to prognosticate that the film would be one of the darkest entry in the franchise.

However, others have pointed out that the term ‘Jedi’ is an unmarked plural noun, which means that both singular and plural form of the word reads the same, and Luke might be spared the gallows after all.

The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson, who told reporters that Luke Skywalker would be an ‘emotional entry point’ in the film.
