Ghana footballer scores own goal by thanking wife and girlfriend on live TV

A South African-based Ghanaian footballer who was named man of the match quickly went from hero to zero in a hilarious post-match interview, where he thanked his wife -- and his girlfriend.

Speaking to reporters after their match against Ajax Cape Town at Athlone Stadium on Friday night (Mar 17), Free State Stars striker Mohammed Anas said, "Thank you for this, I appreciate my fans. My wife and my girlfriend. I mean my wife, I'm sorry."

In the video posted by Gary Al-Smith on Twitter, after Anas realises his blunder, he tries to make up for it by saying:

"I love you so much from my heart."

He later told BBC that the girlfriend he was referring to was his daughter.

"My family knows that I call my daughter my girlfriend. That's what I was talking about. I don't have a girlfriend," he said.
