Two men aged 24 and 26 have been arrested for allegedly stealing motorcycle parts.

The cases, reported between end-February and mid-March, involved the theft of brake components of large capacity motorcycles, said the police on Thursday (March 23).

The men allegedly put up the stolen parts for sale on Facebook, according to preliminary investigations.

The incidents took place in Woodlands and Marsiling housing estates, and officers from the Jurong Division established the pair's identity with the help of police camera footage.

The 24-year-old and his older accomplice were arrested on Wednesday (March 22) at the Woodlands Checkpoint and Tuas Checkpoint respectively.

A plier, two spanners and a set of allen keys - a type of spanner - were seized from one of them.

If convicted, the duo may be jailed up to seven years and fined.

In its statement, the police advised vehicle owners to park their motorcycles in well-lit areas, install an anti-theft alarm system and cover them with a canvas.

Additional locking devices are also recommended, and owners should verify if the motor vehicle parts they intend to buy are from legitimate dealers, said the police.
